Press Association – Myleene Klass came up with an unexpected eight-letter word in Channel 4 show Countdown
Mylene Klass is set to cause red-faces on the set of ‘Countdown’ this afternoon, after coming up with a somewhat unexpected eight-letter word.
While eight-letter scores are usually welcomed on Channel 4’s long-running word quiz, the former Hear’Say singer might not be invited back in a hurry.
After both contestants on the show came up with the word ‘ghosted’, Klass offered up another possibility in ‘gobsh**e’.
The presenter and model giggled as she explained to host Nick Hewer that she had an alternative.
“I got a rude one. It’s an eight… gobsh**e,” she said
But despite the rudeness of the offering, it was accepted by Susie Dent, the custodian of the show’s Dictionary Corner.
Dent confirmed that it is ‘chiefly Irish’ and ‘vulgar slang’.
Just a few weeks ago, the audience was treated to the word ‘erection’, while the show has been host to a number of other rude words.
There has been the likes of ‘orgasmed’, while last year guest Dave Myers, the Hairy Biker, proffered ‘todgers’.
Meanwhile, vulgarity was narrowly avoided in 2010 when the letters U, D, F, C, K and E came out from the vowels and consonants.
The contestants playing avoided the issue by spelling ‘caged’ and ‘faced’ instead. [Daily Mirror]

In it teams of scientists will aim to connect all manner of things in the universe by six degrees of separation. There will be no celebrities on my panel. The reason I like that is that it drives the panelists to very high intellectual ideas. It’s an undumbdownable programme. The questions have to be so difficult that even experts can’t answer them… it’s going to be unintelligible.” It will air in the autumn. [Radio Times]
